Ghandruk is a beautiful town and a Village Development Committee (VDC) in Kaski District in Gandaki zone of north-central Nepal. Ghandruk is the most scenic and popular trek from Kathmandu that can be done from Pokhara aswell. Ghandruk offers the majestic view of Annapurna mountain and a splendid sunrise and sunset. The Ghandruk trek is most popular for wonderful Gurung culture, the beautiful village, geographical differences and the fantastic views of the mountains of Annapurna (7219 m), Machhapuchhare (6993 m) and Himchuli (6411 m).

The main attraction of this 4-day Ghandruk trek is the bustling heritage village of Ghandruk, with its a relatively prosperous Gurung population. Staying in Ghandruk is a wonderful experience as the village has a friendly vibe to it and offers amazing views of Himalayan giants Annapurna, Hiunchuli and Machapuchare (Fishtail).

Best Season to Ghandruk Trek

The Ghandruk trek is beautiful and easy to accomplish any time of the year except the rainy seasons. Mid September until May are the favorable season to trek around Annapurna that offers a lovely views.  Summer (June to July) is also not preferred to trek in Ghandruk because trekkers may miss the amazing views from Poon Hill due to rainfall.

Ghandruk Trek Permit

The most important part of Ghandruk trek is obtaining the required permits. As Ghandruk lies in the Annapurna Conservation area. You need an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) entry permit in order to be able to enter the region. Apart from the entry permit, you also need a TIMS (Trekkers Information management System) card which is used to keep track of all the trekkers entering the area.

Ghandruk Trek Difficulty

Although the name of this trek suggests that this is a family trek, Ghandruk Trek is one of the easiest treks from Pokhara in the Annapurna Region. Although this trek is 8 days in total ( Including Kathmandu Cultural Tour & Pokhara Cultural Tour), you will only trek for 4 days. The highest altitude in this trek is also merely 2230 meters in Thulo Kharka. The altitude gains are also quite mild in this trek. All of these factors make the Ghandruk Trek one of the easiest treks in the Annapurna region.

Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu!. Arrival day
Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Trek to Pothana (1,860 m / 6,102 feet)
Day 03: Trek from Pothana to Ghandruk (1,940 m / 6,365 feet)
Day 04: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara
Day 05: Pokhara sightseeing and fly back to Kathmandu
Day 06: Once is not enough. Depart Kathmandu.
