Kathmandu and Pokhara are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and is known for its rich cultural heritage, ancient temples, and bustling city life. Pokhara, on the other hand, is a scenic city located on the banks of Phewa Lake and is surrounded by the Annapurna mountain range.

A Kathmandu and Pokhara tour typically begins with a visit to Kathmandu’s famous Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses several temples and palaces. Other popular attractions in Kathmandu include the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, the Pashupatinath Temple, and the Boudhanath Stupa.

After exploring the cultural and historical sites of Kathmandu, the tour moves on to Pokhara, where visitors can enjoy scenic views of the mountains, go boating on Phewa Lake, and visit the World Peace Pagoda. Other popular activities in Pokhara include trekking, paragliding, and white-water rafting.

Overall, a Kathmandu and Pokhara tour offers a unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty, making it an unforgettable experience for travelers.

Pokhara may not seem far from Kathmandu (the cities are only 126 miles / 204 km apart), but the Nepali terrain and road quality make for a very long drive. That’s why many travelers opt to choose fly.

What is the best time to travel Kathmandu and Pokhara

The best time to visit Kathmandu and Pokhara depends on what you want to do and see during your trip.

For trekking in the Annapurna region, the best time is between September to November and March to May. The September to November period is the best time to trek as the weather is clear and the views of the mountains are stunning. March to May is also a good time to trek as the weather is warmer and the rhododendron flowers are in bloom.

For visiting temples and other cultural sites, the best time to visit is between October to May. During this period, the weather is relatively dry and mild, which makes it ideal for exploring the city’s temples, stupas and other cultural sites.

If you want to enjoy the lake side and other activities, then the best time to visit Pokhara is between September to November, and March to June. During this time, the weather is clear and sunny, making it perfect for activities such as paragliding, ultralight flight and boating.
