As Nagarkot lies at a much higher altitude than Kathmandu, it gets chilly, especially at night and early morning. Dressing up warmly while enjoying the sunrise will protect you from the icy cold wind. The travel distance from Kathmandu to Nagarkot is approximately 32 kilometers (20 miles) by road. Depending on traffic and road conditions, it usually takes around 1.0 to 1.3 hours to reach Nagarkot from central Kathmandu.

Note: Nagarkot is famous for its beautiful sunrise and this day trip allows you to experience it. The trip begins at 4 AM (5 AM in winter). However, if you are not too keen on waking up early and it’s okay with you to miss out on the sunrise, you can have a late start (at 8 AM).
